It’s been 2 1/2 years since my youngest Liam was born and I am still on a journey to get to my pre-baby body. I’m definitely get there thanks to consistency! Instead of crash dieting, I’m taking it slower and more consistent since I want it to be a lifestyle for me again. Summer is in a few months and I’m on a balanced diet and consistent workout schedule so I think I’ll be bikini ready by then! I did however manage to get back into my normal jean sizes but I want to get to where I was pre-baby as far as muscle lean muscle. Btw, It’s still so amazing to me what my body has been able to do, grow and give birth to 3 beautiful humans!
For those that don’t know, I’m a former dancer.
I danced throughout high school and college (I was a dance and communications major). I was constantly on the move and since I just had myself to take care of, I was able to really focus on eating healthy. I never went on any kind of diet during that time, I guess I had a high metabolism and just made healthier choices without depriving myself. After college, I was a high school dance team coach and Pure Barre instructor teaching over 10 classes per week and would take fitness classes on top of teaching. I was ALL about living a healthy lifestyle which is why when I became pregnant for the first time when I 27, I was like well of course I’m going to be a fit preggo… lol. Um nope. I gained 70+ lbs during my first pregnancy. I definitely took advantage of the whole “eating for two” thing and totally indulged in all of my guilty pleasures.
Don’t get me wrong, there are NO REGRETS…
I was living my life with burritos, boba, pizza and all of my favorites. I ended up giving birth to a healthy babygirl so it’s fiiine lol. People said breastfeeding helps with weight loss after baby and I think it did. As soon as I was cleared to workout, I took it easy and found some postpartum workout videos on YouTube to get my body used to working out again. It didn’t take long and soon after, I was on a journey to get back to my pre-baby body, especially since in a few months I had plans to go to Las Vegas for my birthday celebration.
This was the first time in my life, I considered going on a diet.
My old college roomie was posting videos and pictures of this workout plan she’s on and she was looking so amazing so I reached out to her. Turns out she was a Beach Body Coach and was doing the 21 Day Fix program. I was like 21 days?! Count. Me. In. I got the welcome kit and got familiar with what I can and cannot eat. And guess what? NO SUGAR for 21 days… 21 days no longer felt short for me lol. It’s not like I eat a ton of sugar but I do have a sweet tooth and need to treat myself to a few pieces of chocolate after a meal or something. Oh and let’s not forget about my daily sugary coffee that I love to have… but I had a goal in mind so I was ready.
Day 1 was tough… I remember still being hungry and munching on almonds and wondering why I did this to myself lol. Then I remembered that I had absolutely no self control with food during my pregnancy and was completely living my life that I can do this for 21 days. On top of the strict diet, there were daily workouts which I enjoyed since I was able to do them at home and I was in charge of how hard I wanted to challenge myself. I must say, it got easier as the days when on except when it got to the last few days since the finish line was so close, I could almost taste a Coffee Bean Iced Hazelnut Americano lol. I ended up completing the program and lost a chunk of the pregnancy weight which I was SO happy about. I still wasn’t Vegas ready. It was a great reset for me though. After that, I went back to my “healthier lifestyle” by making healthier choices and treating myself occasionally.
Sooo did I reach my goal for Vegas? YES!
I was so proud. All that work and guess what? I got pregnant again with Baby #2! Lol. I definitely had a little more self control that time around. After I gave birth, I ALMOST got to my goal weight then… yep, I got pregnant with Baby #3 LOL. Two and half years later, here I am. I did go on my friend’s meal plan a few months ago and I was able to lose a good chunk of weight. So much has happened these past 2 years that I was unable to really get on a consistent workout schedule. Here come the list of excuses: moving to Temecula, commuting every day to San Diego for work, managing my job and blog, taking care of 3 littles who weren’t in school yet, being exhausted, etc. etc. Those are definitely valid excuses but now with summer around the corner. I’m ready! I’m on Week 4 of my customized workout plan on the Future Fit App. As far as what I’m eating daily, that needs to have it’s own post so I’ll share that next week 🙂
If you made here, thanks for reading! Haha Have a great weekend!
