Not gonna lie, I always had a negative connotation of botox because of all the celebrities I saw on TV as a kid who can barely move their face. It just didn’t look natural.
So I actually told myself that I would never in my life get botox (lol oops) but things changed as I started getting older and reading more about the benefits of botox.
You can actually control how much botox you want and it’s a great preventative for fine lines and wrinkles! I’ve seen people with amazing skin that have gotten botox and I was sold.
Most of my wrinkles are in my forehead area and crow’s feet (the wrinkles at the corner of your eyes when you smile). I’ve been using creams and retinol and while I think they help, nothing like botox though to handle the business from the inside out.
I got mine done last month (45 units) at iThriveMD in San Diego.
The nurse, Rebecka, has years and years of experience and was so amazing! The process was actually pretty quick too. I was afraid it was going to hurt and while it didn’t “hurt,” I did feel each tiny poke of the needle. My pain tolerance is pretty low so those of you with a high pain tolerance might not even feel a thing!
After I got the botox, the places where I was poked did get a little swollen (totally normal) but it went away after a couple hours.
For the first 24 hours after getting it done, I was advised not to do any yoga (can’t go upside down, ie. downward dog) or heavy exercise. Oh and no laying down the until after 4 hours after the procedure!
Here are the final maximum results!
I started seeing results around 3-4 days but the max results happen after 10 days. I had SO many forehead wrinkles (as you can see) and 2 weeks later, I can barely lift my eyebrows to show you lol. I am so pleased with the results and my experience at iThriveMD. If you are in San Diego, check out their IG! They are currently doing a giveaway if you purchase 40 units of botox, you’ll be entered to win a free botox for a year!
