(This was me 6 mos. postpartum, I lost the baby weight after 3 mos. of hard work & dedication)
One of the biggest challenges as a mother is “losing the baby weight,” unless you’re one of the lucky ones who were “all belly” and bounced back right after, haha. Thankfully, after 6 months, I was able to get back to my pre-baby weight but it was NOT easy. I was on a workout program and meal plan called “21 day fix” by BeachBody and it worked! The hardest part, besides the intense workouts, was skipping out on my “Iced Hazelnut Americanos” from The Coffee Bean for 3 weeks! You’re only allowed to drink black coffee with literally just a splash of non-fat milk. I’ve never been on such a structured meal plan before so it was definitely a challenge but if you’re serious about reaching a goal, its totally doable. As I was about ready to unfreeze my CorePower Yoga membership, I found out I was pregnant with baby #2!
To be honest, I should be working out way more during this pregnancy but let’s be real… working full-time, being a mother and wife is exhausting to say the least. Lately, my workout has been chasing my one-year-old around and taking my dogs out for their daily walk. Before my first pregnancy, I was a “workout-aholic,” healthy eating and self control just followed naturally (unless someone mentioned boba… my guilty pleasure). It definitely helped being a Pure Barre instructor and dance teacher, I was always burning calories.
(Throwback to when I was a Pure Barre instructor. I miss living in Lululemon workout clothes)
Oh how things have changed! I complain to my husband every day about gaining weight and how it bums me out sometimes (yes, I know I’m growing a human but the scale has not been my BFF). The only things that can cheer me up are boba and a box of Krispy Kreme doughnuts… HA! I make him promise to say no to me when I ask for a second round of sweets but get mad at him when he actually does try to stop me, #preggoproblems lol.
When I was pregnant with Scarlett, I gained a whoppin’ 55 pounds! This pregnancy, I’m right on track and aim to stay within the suggested weight gain of 25-35 pounds. Since I am heading into my third trimester next week, I made a vow to myself to take at least 30 minutes a few days a week to incorporate some pregnancy safe workouts into my busy schedule. Exercising during pregnancy isn’t about losing weight but more for helping moderate a healthy controlled weight gain. The benefits that come with working out during pregnancy are amazing! I will be posting about those health benefits in detail soon, along with my favorite pregnancy workout exercises!
[…] Oh and btw, I found that gray layered dress in a random store a couple years ago for $12! I literally scored cause Topshop had a similar one and I always get compliments on it. I wore it during the beginning of both of my pregnancies too. I’m totally sticking to my loose tops and dresses until I can start working out haha. For now, I’ll still be enjoying my daily iced green tea lattes from Starbucks and multiple servings of Mocha Almond Fudge ice-cream. Once I’m cleared to work out in a couple weeks though, it’s going down! I’ll be ready to start my 21 Day Fix Program, the one that helped me lose most of my pregnancy weight last time. Read more about it in a past post here 🙂 […]
